Ogden UnCon Pops

Updated: Sep 11, 2021

So far it’s been a busy spring for the orchestra with the recently completed Ogden Bach Fest (thanks OnStage Ogden) and Secret Garden with Imagine Ballet Theater.  There is a lot more going on next month.  We are soon going to be gearing up for our Ogden UnCon Pops.  What is this you ask, well, I’m glad you asked.  June 7-9 Ogden will be hosting its first pop culture convention.  It’s the brainchild of Russ Adams, the founder of Escape Design FX in Ogden.  It’s called UnCon, because is will be an unconventional con.  You can read more about UnCon at https://www.ogdenuncon.com/

Chamber Orchestra Ogden will be performing a concert of music from such movies as Mission Impossible, Star Trek, Star Wars Batman, Hook and much more.  Will there be classical music, well of course, you will be treated to a medley  of classic cartoon music brought to you by a certain horned helmet-wearing wascally wabbit from Saturday morning cartoon fame.  Our conductor says that these cartoons were his first introduction to the a lot of the great operatic repertoire.  Here is a link to the Mary Dickson Show on KUED where our conductor is interviewed about the concert.

The concert will take place at 7:00 p.m. at the Ogden Amphitheater.  Be sure to wear your favorite costume to get in free.  If you don’t wear a costume you will still get in free, so it’s a deal you can’t beat.  Oh yes, it’s Friday night, June 7.  Doors open at 6:30.
