Hello friends. Well we are kind of up in the air about when we will be performing next. We hope that our Untamed Pops concert will be able to be held as planned on June 26 at the Ogden Amphitheater. We will keep you posted. In the meantime stay home and stay well.
It’s time to give a preview of the 2020-2021 Season. This season will be our tenth anniversary as an orchestra, so we have titled the season: “The Tenth Anniversary Season – Getting to Know Your Orchestra” Celebrating 10 years of providing high quality and exciting orchestra concerts.
Our first concert of the season is September 26, 2020, and this will be a reintroduction to the orchestra, its instruments and its members. To do this we will perform several short pieces introducing the various sections of the orchestra, and their particular sounds. The sections will then all come together for a narrated performance of Benjamin Britten’s Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra.
We are privileged to have been invited to perform the world premiere of Alfonso Tenreiro’s new Piano Concerto. Alfonso is a well-known Ogden-based composer and teacher. We will premiere the concerto on January 23, 2021, and orchestra keyboardist Nicholas Maughan will do the honors, backed up by the orchestra. We will also feature another member of the orchestra as a soloist, but the final determination of who and what hasn’t been made. Stay tuned for more information.
Many of you will remember Ta’u Pupu’a from his last performance in March of 2018. Well, he is coming back to work with us again on March 27, 2021. Literature for the concert isn’t finalized yet, but rest assured that Ta’u will present an amazing concert of tenor arias from great operas. We look forward to this collaboration as we bring to a close our tenth anniversary celebration.
