Celebrating American Heart Month

Updated: Sep 11, 2021

January 23, 2021 Chamber Orchestra Ogden will present its second concert of the 2020-2021 season. The annual Red Dress Concert will begin at 7:30 at Peery’s Egyptian Theater. As always, everyone is encouraged to wear their fanciest red for this concert. As we did for the September 26 concert, we will follow some strict guidelines to assure that everyone is safe.

The concert will be split into three sections, allowing most of the orchestra’s musicians to perform. We will open with a 10 minute brass segment, followed by a 12 minute woodwind segment, and then finish with the strings. In between each segment while the stage is being sanitized for the next group, there will be short videos/comments from the stage, and a presentation of the orchestra’s video of Dvorak’s Festival March, which the musicians performed from their homes, and which was put into final form by Issac Goeckeritz. Get your tickets early since the theater is only allowing limited socially distanced seating. Masks will be required, and patrons will not be able to leave their seats during the breaks unless there is an emergency.

The orchestra will open the concert with the orchestra’s brass section performing Copland’s Fanfare for the Common Man. This will be followed by Paul Dukas’ Fanfare from “La Peri.” After a short pause for cleaning the concert will continue with members of the woodwind section playing the first and fourth movements of Charles Gounod’s Petite Symphony.

At the end of our next short cleaning pause the strings of the orchestra will take the stage. The third and final portion of this concert will include Vivaldi’s Concerto Grosso, Opus 3, No. 11, followed by movements two and four of Tchaikovsky’s Serenade for Strings, Opus 48.

As always COO wishes to recognize the Egyptian Theater for its support of the orchestra’s concerts in this great venue.
