MARISA DEGARLAIS

Marisa clearly remembers the day Dr. Pack played his violin for her 6th-grade class, beginning her love for playing in an orchestra. The next year she began studying cello with Dr. Paul Joines, with whom she continues to study pedagogy. She considers her weekly lessons with him to be one of the great blessings of her life.

A Weber State University Orchestra alumnus and music educator in Weber School District (1995-1998 and 2008-present), Marisa loves teaching junior high orchestra. She has been a registered Suzuki Method Cello teacher since 1995 and enjoys a full studio of fabulous families. Marisa is also associated with New American Philharmonic and Junction City Music School.

She is grateful for the ongoing support of her husband Tom, their three children; and her parents, whom you will see at nearly every concert. Marisa loves sharing time, food, and music with family and friends. She enjoys camping, backpacking, rock climbing with her dad, running, ice skating, and walks. The DeGarlais' love lacrosse, experiencing live music together, and hope to travel much in the future.
