KAREN HASTINGS

Principal

Karen has played, taught, and performed oboe for over 20 years. As a University of Utah graduate with a degree in Woodwind Performance, she studied with Robert Stephenson; principal oboist (emeritus), Utah Symphony. She is adjunct faculty at Weber State University and an active freelance performer in the Salt Lake area. 
She is currently a member of several local performing groups including The Orchestra at Temple Square and is Principal Oboe for your Chamber Orchestra Ogden. She is a regular substitute in the Utah Symphony and Opera and Ballet West orchestra along with many other performing groups. 
Karen has a wonderful and supportive husband and two children. When she's not playing oboe, making oboe reeds, or taking care of crazy kids - she enjoys wood burning, cross-stitching, and pottery.
