Robert Harris

Board Member

Robert Harris is a longtime advocate for the arts and community engagement. Robert brings decades of leadership, legal expertise, and service to the cultural life of northern Utah. A graduate of Harvard Business School (M.B.A., 1960) and Creighton Law School (J.D., 1958), he began his academic journey at Swarthmore College, where he earned a B.A. in economics and served as president of the student government and co-captain of the football team.

Following a distinguished corporate career—including leadership roles as Vice President and General Counsel at Baker Hughes Corporation and later at Thiokol Corporation—Robert transitioned his focus toward community and the arts after his retirement in 1997. His commitment to the performing arts is reflected through decades of service to Onstage Ogden (formerly the Ogden Symphony Ballet Association), where he served as president from 1999 to 2001 and continues to serve as an advisory director.

In addition to his contributions to the arts, Robert has been deeply involved in civic and educational initiatives. He has served as a Judge Pro Tem in Utah’s Second Judicial District since 1996, facilitated the Great Issues Seminar in partnership with Weber State University since 1997, and held leadership positions with the Utah Humanities Council, Harvard Alumni Association of Utah, and Ogden Rotary Club.

His exemplary service and ethical leadership have been recognized with numerous honors, including the 2019 Ethical Leadership Award from Weber State University’s Reed Richards Institute, an honorary doctorate and commencement address at Weber State University in 2019, and induction into the Hall of Fame Lifetime Citizen Award in 2025.
