Growing up in a family of musicians, Joel began playing the violin in third grade. After graduating from Bonneville High School, he attended Weber State University on an orchestra scholarship. Two highlights stand out while playing in the Weber State Symphony: Performing a solo at Concerto Night and traveling to China to perform in 2011.

In 2014, Joel graduated from Weber State with a Bachelor of Music in Stringed Instrument Pedagogy. He is humbled at the opportunity to play with Chamber Orchestra Ogden and is grateful to perform with so many talented people.

Joel also loves spending time with his family (Jordan, Jane, and Jesse); having fun with friends; being a pastor at New City Church; running on the beautiful trails in Ogden; and reading as many books as he possibly can.
