Gleice de Oliviera Uzur
Born in São Paulo, Brazil, Gleice de Oliveira Uzur began her violin studies at age five and earned her BM from Escola Municipal de Música Santa Marcelina. Her musical journey includes postgraduate studies in Sofia, Bulgaria, summer festivals in Austria and Germany, and studies with Professor Peter Zazofsky at Boston University.
As the recipient of the prestigious Brazilian Ministry of Culture award, Gleice was the only South American selected for the Australian String Academy in 2009. She has served as Concertmaster and Associate Concertmaster of Orchestra Bachiana, São Paulo Symphony Youth Orchestra, and Orquestrade Câmara da Universidade de São Paulo. Gleice has also performed extensively with chamber ensembles such as the FASM String Quartet, Ethos String Quartet, Candle Trio, and OCAM String Quartet.
As an educator, she taught at the São Paulo Young Philharmonic Orchestra and Guri Santa Marcelina, a social program for at-risk students in São Paulo. Currently, she is an adjunct violin and music theory instructor at Weber State University.
